Hello and Welcome! My name is Caroline Katba and I care about women. I also care about politics, economics, international relations, international business, and the environment, in fact I have degrees in most of those topics. Nevertheless, through my studies, travels, and life experiences, women’s issues have always been of paramount importance given how interlaced they are with all the other topics. In short, I understood that women, unfairly and undoubtedly, often sat at the nexus of every ism.
Through this blog, I would like to explore issues affecting women through data. Although I am not as advanced as many of the amazing data analysts and scientists out there (whose advice I warmly welcome), I do hope that through my curiosity we can shed light on those issues through empirical and quantitative examination.
Having explained the what of the blog, here is a simple answer for the why. My desire to write this blog is several fold; attempt to satiate my insatiable curiosity about the world through data, showcase to myself and others my data analysis capabilities and progress, and lastly to hopefully build a community where women feel validated, heard and perhaps maybe even proven right within a 95% confidence interval.
I do hope that you enjoy the upcoming content and I welcome you to send suggestions, ideas and topics you’d like to see explored. I thereby declare that this blog shall become and forever remain dynamic, built with love, community and new knowledge.
